Veterinary Surgeons

 

Paul Snape

Qualified from Liverpool in 1994 and worked in Burton on Trent for 3 years before joining Shires in 1997. During his time at Shires Paul has developed an increasing interest in horses which now fill most of his working day. One of his main areas of expertise is in equine dentistry for which he has completed an advanced course at Edinburgh Veterinary School.

 

 

Matthew McCreeMatthew McCree

Matt started work at Shires at the end of 2012, having spent the last 6 1/2 years working in mixed practice in the Lake District, he loves calving cows and lambing sheep. He has a growing interest in all aspects of fertility work and mastitis management and has recently completed his DairyCo mastitis program.  Outside work, Matt plays American Football for the Staffordshire Surge, coaches at Staffs Uni and competes at Crossfit.

 

Adam Twomlow

Adam joined us in 2015 after working for 4 years in a large animal practice in North Staffordshire. He is interested in cattle fertility and lameness and is a BCVA Accredited Johne's Veterinary Adviser. Outside of work enjoys clay pigeon shooting and cycling

 

Chris Watton

Chris joined us in 2015 fresh from London University. He is interested in all aspects of cattle medicine, especially lameness and fertility. He has a small herd of Aberdeen Angus cattle which he has shown with some success and so understands the trial and tribulations of cattle ownership. Chris has completed his AHDB Healthy Feet qualification which means he is our go to person for lameness problems on farms and is also a BCVA Accredited Johne's Adviser.  Chris is the coordinator of our popular Smallholders club where he regularly treats the local Alpaca, goat and chicken population.

 

Dave Allen

Dave joined us in 2016 from another farm animal practice in Shropshire. Dave's interests lie in all aspects of farm work, however he especially enjoys preventative health care planning and ram and bull fertility examinations. Outside of work he is a keen ten-pin bowler, and also enjoys exploring various parts of the country with his dog!

 

Sarah Malpass

Sarah has worked for Shires ever since graduating in 1993. She is married to a local dairy farmer and currently works part time on the farm side where she brings her huge experience gained on her own farm to the benefit of our clients. She is particularly experienced in the use of Interherd in measuring clients’ performance and has also completed a DairyCo lameness program.

 

 

Bogdan Lucian Craciun

Tb tester Luc has been working with us for a number of years. He works 4 days a week doing solely TB testing. Outside of work he keeps himself busy beekeeping!
