Official Veterinarians for Animal Health (DEFRA)

All the veterinary surgeons on the farm team are registered Official Veterinarians so can carry out TB testing and other routine procedures for Animal Health. Within the team individual vets are on most panels so we are able to certify animals and food products for export, blood test for scrapie and carry out other offical tasks.

The vast majority of the work for Animal Health is TB testing. We try to make this onerous task as easy as possible for the client by using the TB master programme and by bringing a member of the lay staff. The TB master programme allows us to bring a list of your cow's ear numbers with us which will obviously make the task much easier. The member of staff will record the skin measurements and help in getting cattle through the crush. Using a hand held computer we can send the results back to Animal health very quickly on completion of the test to release from restriction if necessary
