Traditionally there has been a very low veterinary input into sheep care except around lambing time. We will carry out flock health visits to discuss vaccination and worming programmes. To improve lambing percentages we recommend a health check on the rams which will include electro-ejaculation and semen examination prior to tupping.
To tighten the lambing season we may recommend using sponges or a vasectomised ram.
At Eccleshall we have facilities to carry out lambing and sheep caesarians and we would encourage clients to bring the ewes into the surgery to reduce costs.
Pig Health Care
While all the vets are happy to attend individual pigs in an emergency, Bob and Eddie are able to carry out quarterly inspections for the Fabpig scheme. These visits involve a more detailed examination of the herd's health and biosecurity.
