Shires Vets are able to perform heart scans (echocardiography) and ECG traces at the surgery. We have two vets with a special interest in echocardiography.
For those cases that are more complicated, we often bring in a specialist cardiologist to perform more advanced scanning at the surgery.
We hope that this makes the investigation of heart problems less stressful for your pet as tests are performed closer to home and in an environment that they are more used to.
We are now also able to perform a blood test which monitors the health of your pet's heart muscle.
This is hugely beneficial for those cases where a full heart scan and work-up is not possible for practical or financial reasons. It is also a good way of measuring how your pet is responding to treatment for their heart condition.
