Will Jeffels
Will Jeffels is a partner in the practice.
His interests include feline medicine, cardiology and ultrasound.
Will has two dogs, Bolly a mad Springer Spaniel and Poppy, a Norfolk Terrier, two cats, two horses (which he claims no responsibility for), ducks and chickens!

Paul Snape
Qualified from Liverpool in 1994 and worked in Burton on Trent for 3 years before joining Shires in 1997. During his time at Shires Paul has developed an increasing interest in horses which now fill most of his working day. One of his main areas of expertise is in equine dentistry for which he has completed an advanced course at Edinburgh Veterinary School.

Eddie Friend
Eddie Friend is a partner in the practice and heads the farm team. He is able to bring his vast experience to our clients as he also farms near Bridgemere where he milks 300 cows under the New Zealand system. He is keen at preventing infectious diseases and working with clients to create individual control programmes. Eddie also has extensive knowledge of alpacas and being a fieldsportsman he is interested in game birds and any other type of poultry.

Jessica Hulme
Jessica Hulme BVM&S MRCVS is a partner in the practice.
Her interests include dentistry, exotic pets (especially small 'furries') and behavioural problems.

Jessica has recently undertaken a 5 day advanced dentistry course in the USA and is now able to offer state of the art dental treatment including crowns, fillings, orthodontics and much more.

Sarah Malpass
Sarah has worked for Shires ever since graduating in 1993. She is married to a local dairy farmer and currently works part time on the farm side where she brings her huge experience gained on her own farm to the benefit of our clients. She is particularly experienced in the use of Interherd in measuring clients’ performance.

Louise Cliffe
Louise Cliffe is a farmer’s daughter from Lancashire. She carries out many routine fertility visits and is interested in using the Interherd + programme to improve dairy client’s efficiency.
She also is responsible for our surgery at Gnosall and operates on Wednesdays.

Jenny Herd
Jenny Herd carries out routine farm visits using the Interherd programme to assist in monitoring client’s results.

Geraint Davies
Geraint graduated from Glasgow Vet School in 2003. After spending 3 years as a farm vet in North Wales he joined the Shires team to concentrate on small animal work in 2006. Geraint spends equal amounts of time in the Stone and Hanley practices, particularly enjoying surgery. He is undertaking a further certificate in surgery.
In his spare time he loves walking miles in the hills with Kate and their two mischievous terriers.

Kate Bailey
Kate is a farmer’s daughter from Leek so brings practical experience to the farm team. While she carries out routine fertility visits she is also trained to use the DairyCo programme looking into mastitis and high cell count problems.
In her spare time she enjoys fell running for fun and competition, and general mountain walking.

Rhodri Hughes
Rhodri joined the practice in the autumn of 2010 having spent 5 years in the Leek area. He has come here to specialise in farm work and is also keen to use the Interherd + programme to improve clients’ herds.

Lucy Lack
Lucy qualified in 2006 and joined Shires in 2008 after a two year spell in Ashbourne. She is based at the Stone practice with occasional days at Eaton Park. Her particular area of interest is canine and feline opthalmology (eyes). In her spare time Lucy enjoys gardening and oil painting.

Sarah graduated from London in 2007 and joined Shires straight from university.

Ted Cutting
Ted graduated from Cambridge in 2007. He enjoys all aspects of small animal practice but has a particular interest in surgery. He is undertaking a further certificate in imaging (xray interpretation and scanning).
His interests include hockey and football, singing with Stone choral society and playing the piano.

Charlie Forman
Charlie qualified from Bristol in 2007 and joined Shires in 2009. He is interested in all areas of small animal medicine and works mainly at Stone. Away from work Charlie gets roped into equestrian activities as his fiancee is a keen horsewoman.

Ellen Binks
Ellen graduated from Cambridge University in 2008, she comes from Newport Shropshire so knows the area well. She is mainly involved in the farm work where she helps in all aspects of the farm practice.

Cathy Hubbard
Cathy joined Shires in 2009, fresh from University. She currently splits her weeks between small animal, equine and farm animal work, though her real passion is for the horse work. She will be providing support to Paul and John on the equine team.

Bob Bostelmann
Bob 'officially' retired on 31st March 2011, however we still value his advice and input into the practice and he acts as a consultant on a part time basis.

Well known to all our clients. Bob is a partner in the practice. Though mainly involved in farm work, Bob is often to be seen consulting at Eccleshall. Outside Shires, Bob breeds and shows South Devon cattle.

John Treanor
John 'officially' retired on 31st March 2011, however we still value his advice and input into the practice and he acts as a consultant on a part time basis.

Followed in his father's footsteps in becoming a veterinary surgeon.
John has been involved with horses all his life as his father was a keen horseman and even used to point to point a one eyed horse. As one of the founding partners of Shires Veterinary Practice John has been instrumental in building up the equine business to its current successful state. During his spare time John enjoys sailing, gardening and is an active member of his local church.
