If you require a repeat prescription for Veterinary medicines previously prescribed and dispensed by Shires Vets, then please either telephone your local Shires branch or complete the repeat prescription section below (including for Flea & Wormers such as Nexgard Spectra, Milbemax, StrongholdPlus which fall into the POM-V category)

It is a legal requirement that we can only supply prescriptions for animals that are “under our care”. The interval of examination is determined by your vet at time of examination and varies based on many factors including your pet, their medical condition, the drug, possible side effects etc .

We will be in contact with you if you have gone 'beyond' this prescribed period so that you can make a medication review appointment.  Please ensure you discuss this interval with your vet at time of examination so that you are clear on the prescribed period of time.

Please allow 3 working days between submitting your prescription request and collecting the medication. 

The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons requires us to carry out a clinical assessment when prescribing repeat medications, and this may require us to examine your pet, especially when prescribing antibiotics or controlled drugs. 

Written prescriptions are available upon request for a fee. We are also able to fulfil written prescriptions from other veterinary surgeons.

Food and additional products can also be ordered with 48hrs notice prior to collection (excluding weekends and bank holidays).
