• Linnaeus Graduate Development Scheme

With our Graduate Development Programme in Staffordshire, we take pride in offering new graduates a vast range of learning opportunities, including cardiology, dermatology, acupuncture and physiotherapy.

As a new graduate, you will be:

  • Granted the chance to perform diagnostics and operate for 3-4 days every week. (Initially, you will shadow our OOH rota to gain valuable experience in emergency medicine.)
  • Allocated 30-minute appointment slots to enable time for a thorough approach to cases and to seek advice and support as needed.
  • Work with our team of highly experienced mentors who can support you in all aspects of your clinical development, including dedicated surgical skills coaching.

We are looking for new graduate vets with a desire for quality primary care work and to learn, listen and develop their careers as vets. They will be great communicators and team players when it comes to all aspects of practice, engaging with and learning from other associates. We also want you to share your up-to-date knowledge and approaches with the wider team in practice.

Don’t just take our word for it, here is a first-hand recommendation from one of our previous graduates:

"I would definitely recommend Shires! I have gained great experience with the GDP programme in Shires. The team is very strong and bonded. Everyone is super supportive. There are always people happy to help if needed. The day is well organised between consultations and surgeries. There are many opportunities to be involved in different procedures, from routine neutering to more advanced procedures such as enterotomy, cystotomy, enucleation, caesarean, etc. Great practice for a new graduate to learn key skills quickly with fantastic support!”

We are a welcoming and friendly practice seeking a new graduate with excellent communication, team skills and a willingness to learn in a beautiful practice!

Applications for our Linnaeus Graduate Scheme are accepted through our central application system and the scheme opens for applications in October each year. Please check the Graduate page on the Linnaeus website for more information on applying and to see whether our practice is looking for a graduate this year.
